Studs on exterior walls only with heat ducts or plumbing pipes
Bay window studs too large to caulk
Apply ICC Fire block Approved foam sealant:
All penetrations through top plates and bottom plates this includes electrical, plumbing and heat.
All penetrations through exterior sheathing (e.g.; exterior light fixtures)
Apply Siliconized Acrylic Latex Caulk:
Joint between double top plates
Base plate/sub floor joint on exterior walls
Exterior corner joints
Joints where wall panels meet (if applicable)
Apply polykem foil tape:
Back of electric boxes on exterior walls
Energy Seal 2 (post drywall)
Basement
Apply foam sealant:
Seal gas/water lines and/or any penetrations made after Energy Lock 1
First Floor
Apply Siliconized Acrylic Latex Caulk:
Seal outlet boxes on exterior walls (drywall to box)
Seal plumbing/HVAC duct penetrations on exterior wall
Second Floor (or first floor of ranches)
Apply Siliconized Acrylic Latex Caulk:
Seal outlet boxes on all exterior walls and under attic (drywall to box)
Seal plumbing/HVAC duct penetrations on all exterior and walls under attic
Perform Blower Door Test on 10% of homes – production HousesPerform Blower Door Test on ALL CUSTOM HOMES
Power vented water heaters and sealed combustion air for furnaces are required on all homes that Energy Lock is applied.
